Speech and content for the forum at Boort P-12 College.
I have made some dot points as a start. I thought it would be good to do it in the same format as the symposium (i.e. divide it into 5 main parts, so we can make our own speech)
1. Introduction
Who we are - Melbourne Uni students from different faculties, joined SALP in the hope to make a difference in the society
How we came up to this project
etc
2. Aims of the project
To increase local tourism traffic by bringing in more youths into the community
Promote agri tourism and eco tourism
Broadening horizons of both city and country students
Increasing awareness of higher education opportunities
Promote Melbourne University and Melbourne city to country students and break down the scary stereotypes
Raising prospects of future professionals to develop in the rural communities
etc
3.Academics at Melbourne University
When was it established
Different faculties available
Different opportunities available
the Melbourne model
good lecturers, library, etc??
4. Melbourne University Experience - not just study
Different clubs and hence opportunities
good location
multicultural society
faculty balls
LIVE unit (SALP, Duke of Ed, UROP-Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program for Biomed and Science students)
pretty buildings (historic, modern)
5. Melbourne City Experience
good food
movies - 3D Imax (apparently one of the largest screens in the world??)
museums
high quality coffee places
transport readily accessible
different theatre companies and stage shows (Love Never Dies, Mary Poppins, etc)
My friend also said its so much better than Sydney which I think its a plus point since Robyn said many students go to Sydney instead of Melbourne. We just need to indirectly hint how it is better though (I have never been to Sydney- any ideas??)
